How to Write a Book

Writing in of itself is an art form that dates back thousands of years, and besides being a way to transmit information or note down important facts, it is also a way to express yourself and convey your teachings.

Reading books, while not as popular as they were in the past, are still a good and sought after educational and recreational activity. Writing a book, however, is not an easy thing to do if you do not possess the attributes and traits that make up a writer.

Read on to find out the process behind how to write a book.

Pick a Topic & Start Learning

First of all, before you do anything else you have to pick a topic to write about, preferably something that you either know a great deal about or are very interested in.

Once you’ve picked the actual topic, it's time to research it and gather as much information as possible, so that you not only know what you are writing about but also in order to gain the ability to express your own opinion about the topic in the book itself.

Put Together a Plan

This is the second longest step that you have to take while writing the book, however it is also by far the most important one.

What you will have to do is devise an intricate, overly-complicated and extremely detailed plan, which you will use in order to write the book, keeping in mind that this plan will have to cover every single aspect of the book. It is also a good idea to set deadlines along with each section of the book to keep yourself on track.

Sit Down and Start Writing

Ironically, the process of actually writing the book itself is the easiest one, and literally anybody can do it if they, at the very least, try.

This bit will require a bit of self control and discipline as well in order to not get distracted, however just sit down at your computer, open your favorite text editor, grab the plan that you’ve just finished making, and start writing.

Edit, Edit, Edit!

This is the longest part of the writing process, and it involves hours and hours of reading and re-reading your book, making changes, reverting them and making different changes, also being the part that every writer dreads.

What you are actually looking to do is make sure that the book itself is written following proper grammar rules, the appropriate words are used in the appropriate places and the text itself is easy to read and understand, however don't stretch it out too much.

It may also be a good idea to ask your family and friends to review your book and give you suggestions.

Writing a book is often times perceived as a difficult activity, reserved for only the most gifted and talented wordsmiths out there, however that is not the case.

All you have to do in order to successfully write a book is to pick a solid title, research it as much as humanly possible, plan out your book in great detail, write it and edit it until it meets the conditions or requirements that it has to meet. As long as you follow these steps, you will be able to write a fantastic book.
